25.4°CThis spot is located on the north coast of Crete, west of Heraklion, in an open bay. Wind is mainly side-onshore from the north to northwest (Meltemi), typically 12–20 knots in summer. The water is shallow near the shore, then slightly choppy with small wind waves forming under stronger winds. The seabed is completely sandy, no rocks or reef. Entry is via a wide sandy beach, with plenty of space. No current, but some shorebreak can occur during high wind days.
There is free parking available near Ammoudara/Almiros Beach, typically along side streets (paved or gravel). Spaces fill up at midday, so arrive early.
