Praia de Faro is a long sandy beach on a narrow barrier island in front of Faro city, surrounded by the Ria Formosa Natural Park. On one side you have the Atlantic Ocean with waves, on the other a calm lagoon – perfect for kitesurfing, windsurfing, wingfoiling and SUP. The spot offers good wind conditions year-round, especially with thermal winds in summer. At the western end, you’ll find the Centro Náutico da Praia de Faro, a watersports centre with direct lagoon access. Facilities such as restaurants, bars and changing rooms are right at the spot.
At Praia de Faro, the best parking is right before or just after the bridge to the island. There’s a public car park and spaces along the main road. In summer it fills up quickly – arriving early is recommended. Alternatively, park before the bridge and walk. Motorhomes can use the “Parque Campismo Praia de Faro” campsite directly on the beach.
