17.2°CFish Hoek Beach is located on False Bay, about 40 km south of Cape Town city centre. The beach is wide and sandy, mainly known as a family-friendly beach and a hub for surfski, SUP and sailing. The Fish Hoek Beach Sports Club (FHBSC) sits right at the beachfront and hosts regular training sessions and events. Kitesurfing & Wingfoiling: Possible, especially with southeasterly and south-southeasterly winds. The beach is often used as the finish point of downwind runs (e.g. from Miller’s Point to Fish Hoek). Direct launches are possible but the bay is more sheltered and less windy than the Atlantic side. Surfing & SUP: Small, clean waves form in the bay – perfect for beginners and relaxed sessions. Highlights: False Bay is known for calmer water, warmer conditions, and a more relaxed atmosphere compared to the windier Atlantic beaches.
At Fish Hoek Beach, there are many public parking areas directly behind the beachfront promenade, as well as a large parking space next to the Fish Hoek Beach Sports Club on Peter Creese Way. In total, several hundred spaces are available. During peak season (October–March) parking is generally paid, while in the off-season it is usually free of charge. From the car park it’s only a short walk to the beach and the club. Tip: Arrive early as it gets busy on weekends and during holidays.
