19.3°CThe Milnerton Aquatic Club (MAC) is located at Rietvlei, a freshwater lake within the Rietvlei Wetland Reserve, just north of Cape Town. It provides excellent conditions for windsurfing, wing foiling, sailing and SUP, as the lake is shallow, spacious and has no swell. In stronger winds, small chop develops, but no waves. The main winds are southeasterly (summer, 20–30 knots, steady) and northwesterly (winter, more variable), making it a year-round watersports destination. The spot is suitable for both beginners and advanced riders, thanks to its sheltered launch and safe layout. Facilities include a clubhouse with slipway, showers, toilets, bar and storage. Being part of a nature reserve with more than 180 bird species, it combines sport with a unique natural environment.
At the Milnerton Aquatic Club, there is a large car park directly on the club premises at the shore of Rietvlei. Access is via Sandpiper Crescent in Table View/Milnerton. The parking is paved and available for club members or day visitors. A small entry/day fee applies, which also covers access to the nature reserve. From the car park it’s just a short walk to the slipway and launch areas.
